Water Activities in and Around the Whitsundays

Ocean Rafting (Coral Sea Resort Jetty)

Ocean Rafting, Queensland Adventure Tourism Winner 2001/2002. The fastest tour around the Whitsunday Islands includes exploring Whitehaven Beach, snorkelling pristine reefs and tropical island guided walks.  The focus of Ocean Rafting is on adventure, participation, education, and the natural environment.  The startling colour scheme conjures up an air of youthful exuberance appealing to the adventurous and the young at heart. Ocean Rafting is exciting, different and fun.

Ocean Rafting was the first tour company in the Whitsunday's to hold ecological accreditation from the Ecotourism Association of Australia – an accolade of which we are very proud. With a cruising speed of over 30 knots the vessels can explore vast areas of the Whitsunday’s in one day- but the design of the vessel reduces fuel usage and impact and therefore is more environmentally friendly.

A complement of only 25 guests and 2 crew on each vessel allows personal service, from courtesy bus pick up in the morning, individual snorkel lessons, and guided National Park walking trails. 70% of the boats are under shade providing comfort from our tropical sun.

Ocean Rafting has built a reputation of consistent customer satisfaction.  Our visitor’s book says it all. The company has two distinctly different tours, which both depart daily from Coral Sea Resort in Airlie Beach. The Southern Lights and the Northern Exposure.

Southern Lights - Join the original Whitsunday Ocean Rafting Adventure tour. Relax on world famous Whitehaven Beach, snorkel at the pristine fringing reef at Border Island (away from the crowds), and join our naturalist for an informative guided walk to the sacred aboriginal cave at Nara Inlet.  You can see why we call it 3 days in One!  Relax on Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island. Snorkel at Border Islands pristine reefs and explore the aboriginal cave and lookout at Nara Inlet, Hook Island.
Northern Exposure - The Northern Exposure Eco-Adventure is a favourite among avid snorkellers because it is the only Whitsunday adventure which includes two DIFFERENT snorkel destinations.  Not only that, but it includes a visit to the stunning beach at Hill Inlet, North end of Whitehaven Beach, and a guided National Park walk to the lookout above the silica sand of Whitehaven. More of the Whitsunday's in one day.  Explore the restricted area off Hill Inlet at Whitehaven Beach. Join our guided walk to the stunning views at Hill Inlet lookout, Whitsunday Island.
Bookings available same day however to avoid disappointment we recommend forward bookings.

Crocodile Safari

The natural attractions of the Whitsunday region do not end at the reef and islands. Local estuaries and wetlands stretch inland from the coast, to Proserpine River, home to many species of native birds, mammals, reptiles and marine animals, including about 150 estuarine crocodiles.

Proserpine River Eco Tours is based in the Whitsunday’s, right on the bank of Proserpine River, where their well appointed campsite is surrounded by melaleuca forest and mangroves. Our "Whitsunday Crocodile Safari" is a unique nature experience, which offers you an exciting day trip into the realm of the saltwater crocodile.

The Crocodile Safari operates daily and we carry a maximum of 30 passengers. Your comfort and individual attention on the tour is assured.

The Crocodile Safari will take you on a calm water boat cruise on Proserpine River, home to about 150 estuarine crocodiles. Our guides will help you to understand the fascinating mangrove eco system as you look for crocodiles basking on the muddy banks of the river.

The Safari also takes you through the nationally listed wetlands of Goorganga Plains. Travel through pastures, saltpans and melaleuca forests, while seated high above the ground, on board our open-air tractor-drawn wagon train. You are assured a panoramic view as you take in the unique Australian scenery. A guided nature walk (weather dependent) is offered for those who wish to stretch their legs and take a personal look at the native habitat around our campsite.
To complete your "Naturally Australian" experience, the Whitsunday Crocodile Safari includes a traditional morning or afternoon tea of bushman's billy tea and damper, freshly cooked on an open campfire. A "fair-dinkum" barbecue lunch is also prepared each day at our under-cover campsite, which is well equipped with picnic tables, chairs and toilet facilities. While you enjoy lunch, our tour guides will give you a close up view of a fierce looking, but delicious Queensland mud crab and an interesting insight into their amazing lifecycle and habits.

The tour operates in all weather and includes:
